Long tall Sally

This song I listened to this week is Long Tall Sally. I really like the rhythm of this song. It is very upbeat and very catchy. You can definitely see the black gospel music touch in this song. This song is starting to sound a little more modern but steel gots that old-time feel, with the jazz feel in it. I feel like his singing is more wild and different than most singers in that day. Especially his live performances are a lot more wild. Will the shouting style as he sings and the Whoops, and then when he plays the piano he is standing. This was all very surprising to see this and to see that this is how rock 'n roll started out. The song brings a lot of energy to the room. Even though my favorite genre is country and this sounds nothing like it, I still like the way it sounds and enjoy listening to this song. I feel like the target audience for this song is all ages except the grandparents of that day.

The brass instruments is what makes it feel a little like the blues I think it a pretty good story told through the lyrics. I feel like the story is very applicable for the day. It may be a little slow though. The guitar goes very well with the lyrics. I feel like the guitar is what makes it feel country, and same with the yodeling. Week 9

The song I chose to write about this week is, "Thank God I'm a Country Boy by John Denver." I enjoy listening to the songs by John Denver. I know a lot of people in his day didn't like the way he was taking country music but I like it. I find it interesting that part of the reason why he wrote this song was to show that he was a country singer and that he was proud of it. In the song, he talks about the simple way of life a country boy has, and talks about how much he enjoys it. There are also some funny lyrics to the song such as "And life ain't nothing but a funny, funny riddle, thank God I'm a country boy." He sings a little softer than a lot of the country singers in that day. H also really good with the guitar. I do see that the way he sings country music is different but still not sure why people didn't like the way he was taking it. The song makes me feel happy and helps me see the joys of being a country boy. I enjoyed listing to the song

Week 10

The song I choose to write about this week is Superstition by Stevie Wonder. He wrote this song to tell about the dangers of believing in superstition. Such as when he talks about walking under a latter and breaking a mirror, which is said to bring 7 years of bad luck. I like the style of this song. It is a little different from the songs of that day. And this was great because Wonder was no longer abligated Motown Records, so he could control the way his music sounded. This song has a very catchy tune and is fun to listen to. It's pretty cool how they were able to make this song, through using a lot of modern technology. This song was a huge hit during its day hitting the top charts. It is a very upbeat song, and today people still love listing to this song. It is s great song and I'm sure people will continue to listen to it for years to come
