Week 6

The song I choose to talk about this week is "Hound Dog."It's interesting to me how he was able to make this song a lot more popular than Big Mama Thorton I like the instruments. I feel like if I was her I might be a little upset, but back then a lot of people were doing back then. I like the instruments used within the is song. The clapping is something that is different from most songs. But it does give it a little bit of that black culture to the song, which probably cem from Big Mama Thorton. I also like the electric guitar and the drums adds some great sound. I find the lyrics interesting and how its sung by Elvis(a guy) you can tell it was probably meant for a women to sing. I like the way Elvis sings it. It adds a lot of character to the song. The song is definitely upbeat and it does seem like a great song to dance to. The guitar solo was really good with the backup singers singing "whooo." IT was an all-around good song and I can see why it was a big hit.

The song I picked was Waiting for a Tain. I like the way this song sounds. I like how it is a mix of country and blues. The brass instruments is what makes it feel a little like the blues I think it a pretty good story told through the lyrics. I feel like the story is very applicable for the day. It may be a little slow though. The guitar goes very well with the lyrics. I feel like the guitar is what makes it feel country, and same with the yodeling. Week 9

The song I chose to write about this week is, "Thank God I'm a Country Boy by John Denver." I enjoy listening to the songs by John Denver. I know a lot of people in his day didn't like the way he was taking country music but I like it. I find it interesting that part of the reason why he wrote this song was to show that he was a country singer and that he was proud of it. In the song, he talks about the simple way of life a country boy has, and talks about how much he enjoys it. There are also some funny lyrics to the song such as "And life ain't nothing but a funny, funny riddle, thank God I'm a country boy." He sings a little softer than a lot of the country singers in that day. H also really good with the guitar. I do see that the way he sings country music is different but still not sure why people didn't like the way he was taking it. The song makes me feel happy and helps me see the joys of being a country boy. I enjoyed listing to the song

Week 10

The song I choose to write about this week is Superstition by Stevie Wonder. He wrote this song to tell about the dangers of believing in superstition. Such as when he talks about walking under a latter and breaking a mirror, which is said to bring 7 years of bad luck. I like the style of this song. It is a little different from the songs of that day. And this was great because Wonder was no longer abligated Motown Records, so he could control the way his music sounded. This song has a very catchy tune and is fun to listen to. It's pretty cool how they were able to make this song, through using a lot of modern technology. This song was a huge hit during its day hitting the top charts. It is a very upbeat song, and today people still love listing to this song. It is s great song and I'm sure people will continue to listen to it for years to come
